The Best Holiday Cookies Recipe

With the holiday season just around the corner, nothing makes our homes fill with warmth and comfort more than holiday baking aromas and the promise of sweet treats to come! You would probably agree that one of the best smells in the world is the aroma of warm cookies baking in the oven. We absolutely love experimenting with cookie recipes and perfecting them so every time you visit the Inn you try something new, or an improved old favorite. Start with preheating the oven to 350 degrees and grabbing all the ingredients listed below:

The Old Harbor Inn Holiday Cookies

 Cookies

1 cup Crisco

1 cup of sugar

4 eggs

4 cups flour

4 tsp. baking powder

1 cup milk

1 tsp. Anise Extract

Icing

2 cups confectioners’ sugar

½ tsp. Anise Extract

1-2 tbsp. milk

Directions

Cream sugar and Crisco. Add eggs and cream together. Add flour, baking powder, milk, and anise and mix well. Drop by rounded tablespoon cookie scoop on a prepared cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. While cookies are warm dip them in the icing and decorate with sprinkles, candies, or nuts of your choice. Makes 3 ½ dozen cookies.
