You would probably agree that one of the best smells in the world is the aroma of warm cookies baking in the oven. We absolutely love experimenting with cookie recipes and perfecting them so every time you visit the Inn you try something new, or an improved old favorite. The Old Harbor Inn is known for our "bottomless cookie jars". There are always yummy cookies baking in the oven. Our cookies are as much a unique signature of the Inn as our breakfast. Our goal is to make our guests feel right at home and what better way to show our love than baking you your favorite cookies!
Whether you're making cookies for your family, friends, cookie swaps, or just as a treat to enjoy by the fireplace, there is always a good reason to whip up a batch of cookies during the holidays. Fire up your oven and get ready to spread some holiday cheer.
Start with preheating the oven to 350 degrees and grabbing all the ingredients listed below:
The Old Harbor Inn Holiday Cookies
Cookies
1 cup Crisco
1 cup of sugar
4 eggs
4 cups flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tsp. Anise Extract
Icing
2 cups confectioners' sugar
½ tsp. Anise Extract
1-2 tbsp. milk
Directions
Cream sugar and Crisco. Add eggs and cream together. Add flour, baking powder, milk, and anise and mix well. Drop by rounded tablespoon cookie scoop on a prepared cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. While cookies are warm dip them in the icing and decorate with sprinkles, candies, or nuts of your choice. Makes 3 ½ dozen cookies.
